Dvorak typing test
The Dvorak Simplified Keyboard puts the most-used letters on the home row, reducing finger travel by ~63% vs. QWERTY. Steep learning curve but typists who switch often report 5–10 WPM gains long-term.
Take the Dvorak test
Use the standard typing test — it works with any physical keyboard layout you've configured on your OS. Your typing accuracy is measured against the characters you type, not the layout.
Why does the layout matter?
Different layouts optimize for different things — QWERTY for compatibility, Dvorak for finger efficiency, Colemak for an easy migration path, AZERTY for French language conventions. Your raw WPM after mastering any of them is usually within 5–10 of QWERTY.
